Sean received his degree in fine arts in 2009 and became a career tattooist shortly after graduating.
He founded Sacred Knot Tattoo in Llandudno in 2016.
“ All of my designs are drawn freehand on the skin to flow with the body. It’s a massively important part of my process.”
“I try not to tattoo anything I wouldn’t be happy to have on my own skin.
During the design process, that’s how I determine whether or not we should tattoo the design we’ve created or keep working until it’s right.”
When he’s not tattooing, Sean researches the mythology and visual traditions of ancient peoples.
“ Museums are where ancient people can speak to us. They’re temples for communication from the artists who came before to us to present day. The only thing that separates us is time. You just have to know how to listen. It starts with respect and attention to detail.”
“The art styles of ancient people were forms of communication. We can learn these languages and write new poetry in their visual speech.”
